Housekeeping Supervisor Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven Woodbridge, CT Job Details Full-time $45,000 - $55,000 a year 2 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Qualifications Shift management Attention to detail Housekeeping management Manual handling Full Job Description Housekeeping Supervisor The JCC of Greater New Haven is seeking a motivated, hands-on Housekeeping Supervisor to lead our housekeeping team and help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our members, guests, and staff. This is a working supervisor position, meaning you'll lead by example while overseeing the day-to-day operations of the housekeeping department
Schedule:
Tuesday-Saturday Shift:
5:30am-1:30am Responsibilities Supervise, schedule, and support a team of approximately 10 housekeeping staff. Ensure the entire campus is consistently clean, organized, and presentable. Conduct regular inspections to identify cleanliness issues and potential safety hazards, ensuring they are addressed promptly. Work alongside the housekeeping team, performing cleaning duties as needed. Train, coach, and hold staff accountable to high cleanliness and performance standards. Assign daily tasks and monitor completion to ensure all areas receive proper attention. Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and report maintenance needs. Coordinate and complete room setups and breakdowns for meetings, programs, special events, and community functions. Provide basic audiovisual and technology support, including setting up projectors, TVs, microphones, sound systems, and presentation equipment, while troubleshooting minor technical issues as needed. Conduct routine testing and monitoring of whirlpools ensure compliance with health and safety standards, maintaining accurate testing logs. Respond promptly to facility requests received by radio or other communication systems. Foster a positive, respectful work environment while managing the team with a firm but fair approach. Qualifications Previous housekeeping, facilities, or custodial supervisory experience preferred. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Experience coordinating staff and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Basic knowledge of audiovisual equipment and willingness to learn facility technology systems. Strong attention to detail with a genuine understanding of what a clean, safe, and well-maintained facility looks like. Reliable, organized, and able to prioritize multiple tasks throughout the day. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform the physical requirements of housekeeping and facility operations.
