Newton, KS Position Summary:
Prairie View, Inc. is seeking a Housekeeping Supervisor to oversee daily environmental services and maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our patients, staff, and visitors. This role combines hands-on cleaning duties with administrative leadership, staff development, and vendor management. The ideal candidate will be a working supervisor who balances daily operations with long-term compliance, training, and facility scheduling.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Operations & Hands-On Care:
Daily Communication:
Check emails multiple times daily to stay updated on facility needs. Meet with staff every morning to pass along information and review daily assignments.
Facility Sanitation:
Perform daily cleaning of basement restrooms and the staff breakroom.
Quality Assurance:
Conduct daily random room checks, review staff daily documentation, and verify sign-off sheets.
Team Support:
Actively check on staff throughout the shift; provide hands-on help and step in where needed.
Scheduling, Planning & Specialized Cleaning:
Master Scheduling:
Manage staff scheduling, track timekeeping, and handle time-off requests.
Project Scheduling:
Establish and participate in specialized maintenance timelines, including window cleaning schedules and carpet shampooing schedules.
Campus Inspections:
Conduct weekly full-campus checks to ensure general upkeep and safety.
Inventory & Vendor Coordination:
Linen Management:
Conduct daily linen checks and place weekly linen orders every Monday. Serve as the primary contact for the linen representative during monthly meetings.
Supply & Chemical Tracking:
Check and order housekeeping supplies weekly. Collaborate with the Facilities Director to ensure the Safety Data Sheets (SDS/chemical list) remain accurate and updated whenever new products are introduced.
Vendor Scheduling:
Coordinate routine monthly service and emergency call-outs for ABC Pest Control. Arrange for bio-hazard waste pickups on an as-needed basis.
Personnel Management & Compliance:
Hiring & Onboarding:
Manage the talent pipeline by interviewing applicants, making hiring decisions, and leading the orientation process for all new staff.
Performance & Development:
Conduct bimonthly collaborative room checks alongside the staff assigned to those areas. Deliver formal yearly staff evaluations and implement corrective action when necessary.
Training Trackers:
Monitor and ensure the housekeeping team stays 100% up to date on all weekly Relias training requirements.
Team Culture:
Maintain an open-door policy to listen to staff ideas, address workplace issues, and foster a collaborative environment.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Proven experience as a Housekeeping Supervisor or Team Lead, preferably in a healthcare, behavioral health, or residential setting. Strong leadership skills with a "lead by example" work ethic. Excellent organizational skills to balance tight early-morning scheduling, inventory tracking, and electronic documentation. Ability to adapt to changing daily priorities and step in to assist with physical labor when necessary.
