Job Description

The Assistant Head Housekeeper supports the Head Housekeeper in managing the daily operations of the housekeeping and laundry departments. This role is primarily responsible for ensuring all housekeeping staff are efficiently deployed, maintaining high cleanliness standards through rigorous inspections, and stepping in to lead the department in the absence of the Head Housekeeper. Key Responsibilities I.
Daily Operations & Supervision Shift Management:
Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the housekeeping shift, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and on schedule.
Room Assignments:
Prepare daily room assignments for Room Attendants and Housepersons based on occupancy reports and priority requests.
Quality Assurance:
Conduct thorough daily inspections of clean guest rooms, public areas, and employee work areas to ensure strict adherence to hotel standards.
Support:
Provide direct operational support to staff, assisting with room cleaning or specialized tasks during high-occupancy periods or staffing shortages. II.
Team Training and Development Onboarding:
Assist the Head Housekeeper with the onboarding and training of new team members, focusing on cleaning techniques, safety protocols, and guest service standards.
Coaching:
Provide ongoing coaching and immediate feedback to staff regarding performance, productivity, and adherence to uniform/grooming standards.
Motivation:
Help foster a positive, productive, and respectful work environment. III.
Administration and Coordination Maintenance Reporting:
Promptly log and follow up on all maintenance issues reported by housekeeping staff, coordinating communication with the Maintenance department.
Communication:
Maintain close communication with the Front Office regarding room status updates, late checkouts, and priority clean requests.
Paperwork:
Assist with administrative duties such as updating checklists, processing daily reports, and managing lost and found logs. IV.
Guest Services and Problem Resolution Guest Contact:
Respond promptly and courteously to all guest requests and inquiries, ensuring swift resolution and exceptional service delivery.
Complaint Handling:
Take ownership of and resolve guest issues related to housekeeping service or room cleanliness, escalating complex issues to the Head Housekeeper when necessary.
Qualifications Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a supervisory or senior attendant role within a hotel housekeeping or similar operations department (preferred).
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent (required).
Skills:
Proven ability to supervise and motivate a team. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safety procedures. Basic proficiency with hotel management systems (PMS).
Attributes:
Service-oriented and a positive, hands-on leadership style. Physical ability to perform duties which may include standing, bending, and lifting. Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
