We are currently looking for an engaging and friendly Housekeeping Supervisor to join our team at the Element Harrison - Newark Hotel. The Housekeeping Supervisor plays a key leadership role in maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and overall appearance of our facility. This position is responsible for overseeing the housekeeping staff, ensuring that all cleaning tasks are completed to a high standard, and that guest and employee areas are clean, safe, and welcoming. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to effectively lead a team in a fast-paced environment. This role requires both administrative oversight and hands-on involvement to ensure quality and efficiency in all housekeeping operations.

Responsibilities:
the general shift responsibility of the Bartender include but are not limited to: Oversee day-to-day housekeeping operations including guest room cleaning, public areas, laundry, and back-of-house cleanliness. Create daily work schedules and assign tasks to housekeeping staff based on room occupancy, priorities, and staffing levels. Adjust staffing as needed to meet fluctuating hotel demands. Train new employees on hotel cleaning standards, procedures, and safety protocols. Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to ensure team development and consistency. Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, hallways, public restrooms, and other hotel areas to ensure cleanliness, proper setup, and adherence to brand standards. Address deficiencies immediately. Monitor stock levels of cleaning supplies, linen, guest amenities, and equipment. Place orders or communicate with purchasing to ensure timely replenishment. Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests and complaints related to housekeeping services. Ensure guest satisfaction through timely service recovery and follow-up. Collaborate with Front Desk, Maintenance, and (Laundry) teams to ensure smooth daily operations. Communicate room status updates, maintenance issues, and special requests. Ensure housekeeping staff follow all hotel policies and OSHA safety regulations, including the use of PPE, chemical handling, and proper lifting techniques. Monitor room turnover times, especially during high-occupancy or turnover-heavy days. Help implement strategies to improve efficiency without compromising quality. Log and secure all lost and found items, following hotel procedures for guest retrieval and storage. Document and report any repair or maintenance issues in guest rooms or public areas to the engineering or maintenance department promptly. Keep accurate records of room inspections, staff attendance, laundry logs, cleaning checklists, and any incidents involving the housekeeping department. Organize periodic deep cleaning projects and seasonal cleaning initiatives (e.g., carpet shampooing, drapery cleaning, mattress flipping). Foster a positive and respectful work environment. Recognize staff achievements and encourage teamwork to promote productivity and staff retention. Perform any other duties as assigned by management to support the housekeeping department and overall hotel operations.
Requirements/Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional hospitality or management training is a plus Minimum 2-3 years of housekeeping experience, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting At least 1 year of supervisory or team lead experience in a housekeeping or related role Strong knowledge of cleaning procedures, equipment, and safety standards Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high cleanliness standards Effective communication skills (verbal and written English); bilingual is a plus (English and Spanish) Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team Problem-solving skills and ability to handle guest complaints professionally and efficiently Proficient with basic computer systems (e.g., Microsoft Office, housekeeping software or hotel property management systems) Physically able to perform housekeeping tasks as needed, including standing for long periods, lifting up to 30 lbs, bending, and reaching Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and various shifts, depending on occupancy and operational needs Familiarity with OSHA regulations and general workplace safety practices US Work Authorization is required.
