Housekeeping Manager / Assistant General Manager / General Manager Position Summary The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the housekeeping department to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and guest satisfaction are consistently achieved. This role provides leadership, training, and support to housekeeping staff while maintaining brand and company standards for guest rooms and public areas. The Housekeeping Supervisor works closely with the Front Desk and Maintenance teams to ensure efficient room readiness and an exceptional guest experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Reporting to the Housekeeping Manager and/or hotel management, responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following: Department Operations & Oversight Perform daily opening and closing procedures for the Housekeeping department. Assign daily room and public area cleaning boards to housekeeping staff and housemen. Monitor staffing levels and productivity to ensure efficient operations. Ensure all housekeeping team members follow established policies, procedures, and safety standards. Assist with scheduling and shift coverage as directed by management. Support and motivate team members to maintain high performance and morale. Quality Assurance & Inspections Inspect guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to ensure cleanliness and brand standards are consistently met. Verify proper sanitation and disinfecting of high-touch surfaces in guest rooms and public areas. Ensure rooms are guest-ready, properly stocked, and meet hotel presentation standards. Identify maintenance issues and report them promptly through proper channels. Follow up on guest requests and service recovery to ensure complete satisfaction. Conduct re-inspections as necessary to maintain quality standards. Inventory & Supplies Inspect housekeeping carts, storage rooms, and closets to ensure proper organization and stock levels. Monitor and control usage of cleaning supplies, linens, and amenities. Assist with inventory counts and supply ordering as directed by management. Ensure equipment is maintained, cleaned, and used properly. Public Areas & Coordination Ensure housemen maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all public areas, including lobby, restrooms, hallways, and employee areas. Monitor trash removal, floor care, and overall appearance of common areas. Communicate with Front Desk regarding early departures, late check-outs, VIP arrivals, and room status updates. Coordinate with Maintenance to address repair needs and ensure rooms are placed back into service quickly. Training & Team Leadership Assist in training new housekeeping team members on cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and brand standards. Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to team members. Promote teamwork, professionalism, and a positive work environment. Ensure compliance with safety programs, chemical handling procedures, and OSHA standards. Administrative Duties Complete daily inspection reports and productivity logs. Maintain accurate room status updates and communication logs. Manage lost and found items following hotel procedures. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by management. Qualifications Previous housekeeping experience required; supervisory experience preferred. Strong knowledge of hotel cleaning standards and procedures. Ability to lead, train, and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Basic computer skills and ability to learn hotel operating systems. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively. Professional appearance and demeanor required. Reliable, dependable, and flexible with scheduling. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting throughout the shift. Ability to push and pull housekeeping carts and equipment. Must be able to lift and carry up to 25-40 pounds regularly. Ability to work in varying temperatures and conditions. Must be able to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays.
