Pay Range:
$37.63 - $62.10 Care for our community, and your career. The Environmental Services Director is responsible for efficiently managing the housekeeping/laundry departmental operations of Samaritan Medical Center and clinics. He/She directs the work of the Environmental Services Department to ensure that all infection control standards are met. Responsible for implementation of an integrated program including infectious and bio hazardous waste disposal, linen distribution and collection. Performs related duties as required to ensure aseptic/sanitary conditions are maintained. Job Requirements The work requires considerable familiarity with housekeeping/laundry equipment, the use of cleaning supplies, solving operational problems, diagnosing cause of malfunctioning equipment, and planning and laying out work schedules. The Director of Environmental Services supervises a variety of activities in housekeeping and laundry in maintaining the center in an orderly, clean, and sanitary condition and in processing linens, garments, and other washables. The individual has overall responsibility for employment processes, staff satisfaction and departmental turnover. The Director of Environmental Services prepares financial budgets and ensures that performance of all departmental expenses stay within prescribed limits. This position investigates new and improved cleaning instruments, supplies and methods in order to maintain an aseptic environment for proper infection control. The Director of Environmental Services facilitates efficient use of time, money, and personnel resources, and the obtainment of the department's goals and objectives.
Minimum Education Requirement:
Associates degree or a minimum of five years supervisory experience in a health care setting.
Minimum Experience Requirement:
Three years environmental/housekeeping/laundry supervisory experience in a health care setting required. Must be able to operate and in service the use of equipment and chemicals used. Proficient in the use of a personal computer including word processing. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills required. Ability to independently take initiative and exercise good judgment in decision- making. Ability to work efficiently and effectively under deadline pressures and to simultaneously handle multiple projects. Professional maturity that daily sets the tone in carrying out the responsibilities of the position. High degree of honesty, integrity and confidentiality. Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to undertake new responsibilities as assigned.
Physical Requirement/Working Conditions:
Occasional contact with hazards, including chemicals, which may cause severe injury & or illness. Light to moderate lifting. Medium pushing /lifting (floor machines, furniture, beds, etc.). Must be able to bend, stoop, push and pull. Stands and walks most of the working day.
