Housekeeping Manager Reports To:
General Manager Supervises:
Housekeeping staff, laundry staff, and temporary seasonal team members Position Summary The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for leading and supporting the daily housekeeping operation to ensure guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces are maintained to high cleanliness and presentation standards. This role combines hands-on housekeeping support with staff supervision, scheduling, training, inventory control, and coordination with other departments to deliver excellent guest experience. Key Responsibilities Operations Management Supervise the daily cleaning of guest rooms, the main building, and public areas Inspect rooms and common spaces to ensure cleanliness, presentation, and resort quality standards are met Coordinate room status updates with Front Desk, Maintenance, and Management Ensure timely room turnaround during high-occupancy periods and special events Hands-On Support Assist with room cleaning and housekeeping tasks when staffing levels or business demands require Support laundry operations, deep cleaning, and special projects as needed Respond promptly to guest, management, and operational cleaning requests Team Leadership Schedule, train, and oversee housekeeping staff and temporary employees during peak periods Monitor staff productivity, quality of work, and adherence to standards Support a positive team culture and maintain morale within the department Prepare weekly schedules and manage employee timekeeping Inventory & Cost Control Monitor linen, towel, guest room, and cleaning supply inventory levels Ensure cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment are properly maintained and available Prepare monthly supply order recommendations for management approval Help control waste, loss, and damage to supplies and equipment Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with OSHA, health, and workplace safety requirements Train team members on chemical handling, equipment use, and safe work practices Maintain proper labeling, storage, and organization of all housekeeping supplies and materials Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent 3+ years of housekeeping experience in a hotel, resort, or hospitality setting 1+ year of supervisory or team lead experience Ability to work flexible hours as needed including weekends, holidays, and extended hours during peak seasons Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to efficiently use Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Ability to communicate effectively in English Able to use tablets or mobile devices for housekeeping tasks Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (required to support on-site operations as needed) Preferred Qualifications Bilingual in English and Spanish Hospitality degree or hospitality coursework Experience in resort, lodge, or multi-building property operations Experience with hotel PMS, housekeeping apps, scheduling system, Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, push, pull, and lift up to 40 lbs throughout the shift Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks in indoor and outdoor environments Ability to work in varying weather conditions when supporting resort operations Performance Expectations Ensure rooms and public areas are cleaned and inspected within established timeframes Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and presentation Support strong guest satisfaction related to housekeeping services Foster a professional, respectful, and team-oriented work environment Partner effectively with management and other departments to support overall resort operation
