Position Description:
The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating housekeeping and environmental services operations to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, patients, visitors, and staff. This role supervises daily department activities, schedules and directs team members, monitors quality standards, manages supplies and budgets, and supports regulatory compliance and safety initiatives. The Housekeeping Supervisor also serves as a working leader by assisting with departmental duties as needed, responding to staffing needs, and promoting a high level of customer service, accountability, and teamwork throughout the facility.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruit, hire, train, coach, and evaluate departmental staff (management staff only) Has direct oversight and responsibility of environmental services supervisors and leads Utilizes Worx-Hub system for environmental services work orders, scheduling, and other information Plan, schedule and supervise environmental services activities at the facility Develop and maintain an environmental services procedure manual and policies Ensure thorough cleanliness of facility by making necessary environmental inspection rounds Establish a work-log or checklist for daily, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly environmental services tasks Prepare monthly schedule and staff per budget, on-call 24 hours for staffing needs Code Environmental Services invoices ensure compliance within budgetary guidelines Order supplies and equipment within budgetary constraints Assist in identifying/selecting supply vendors Identify and correct potential safety hazards Remain deficiency free, meeting all state-federal, licensing requirements Train/counsel staff, as appropriate, regarding cleaning/laundry techniques, safety, facility, and departmental procedures Monitor and assist with laundry in absence of the Shift Supervisor Assist with QA rounds for Environmental Services on a weekly basis Oversee employee time sheets/schedules, ensuring completion of appropriate paperwork (i.e., missed time, PTO requests) Review of time records for departmental staff Use proper chemicals, tools, and equipment to clean assigned areas Make rounds weekly to ensure janitor closets are in good condition Report repair needs to appropriate staff Work with other staff on major projects Make rooms ready for admissions Maintain floors, as required Move furniture as requested Assist Laundry and Floor Techs as needed Models a service attitude towards others, takes ownership in solving problems and takes the initiative to make things better, is friendly and courteous to residents, patients, and co-workers Ensure resident/patient, visitor, and co-worker safety by remaining aware of and reporting any new or existing safety hazards Maintain good attendance record Assist other Departments as needed Housekeeping duties as needed, due to call-ins, vacations, etc. Coordinate with other departments, as needed for set-up of activities and special events Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduation or GED required Ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English. Ability to perform Essential Duties
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Prior experience in institutional housekeeping/maintenance (minimum of three years in a healthcare or hospitality/resort setting required) Demonstrated supervisory experience (minimum of two years preferred) Computer skills required with ability to perform in PowerPoint, Excel, Word Demonstrated ability to operate a computerized housekeeping management system (preferred) Genuine caring for and interest in the care of mature adults, people with disabilities and hospice patients Ability to perform work tasks within the Physical Demand Requirements Ability to comply with the Resident Bill of Rights and Employee Responsibilities Ability to comply with organizational and departmental safety policies and procedures.
