Job Description

Position Summary The Night Shift Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the facility. This position performs routine and specialized cleaning duties, including floor care, pressure washing, equipment operation, and general building maintenance. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and experienced in commercial custodial procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clean and sanitize restrooms, classrooms, offices, hallways, meeting rooms, and common areas. Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust assigned areas on a daily basis. Empty trash and recycling containers and properly dispose of waste. Perform floor maintenance, including: Stripping and refinishing floors Applying floor finish and polish Buffing and burnishing floors Operating floor scrubbers and other floor care equipment Operate and maintain custodial equipment safely and effectively. Perform pressure washing of sidewalks, patios, building exteriors, and other designated areas. Clean windows, doors, walls, and other surfaces as assigned. Set up and break down rooms for meetings, events, and activities. Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, and equipment issues to supervisors. Follow established cleaning schedules and procedures. Maintain custodial storage areas in a clean and organized manner. Assist with emergency cleanups as needed. QualificationsRequired High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous custodial, janitorial, or facility maintenance experience. Experience stripping, waxing, and polishing floors. Experience operating commercial floor scrubbers, buffers, and related equipment. Experience using pressure washing equipment. Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and safe handling procedures. Working knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS/MSDS) and chemical safety requirements. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to bend, kneel, climb ladders, and perform repetitive motions. Ability to work with cleaning chemicals and equipment safely. Work Schedule Night Shift (hours determined by employer) May require occasional overtime, weekends, or special event support. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of proper custodial cleaning methods and procedures. Knowledge of floor care techniques and equipment. Understanding of OSHA safety standards related to custodial operations. Ability to read and understand
SDS/MSDS
documentation. Strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality while working in occupied facilities. Preferred Qualifications Experience in schools, churches, commercial facilities, or large campuses. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus. Certification in floor care or custodial operations preferred but not required.
Pay:
$15.15 per hour
