040926/25-26:57 SUMMARY Under general direction, plans, organizes, coordinates and manages the district custodial operations; assures the proper care, cleaning and maintenance of district buildings; inspects facilities, coordinates and prioritizes work projects; assigns, reviews and evaluates the work of assigned operations personnel involved in district•wide custodial work assignments.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
Plan, organize, coordinate and oversee day-to-day custodial activities of assigned personnel. Advise site administrators and assist in the inspection of site facilities. Assure the proper and efficient maintenance and repair of district buildings and facilities. Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff, including custodial substitute employees. Oversee and manage special custodial projects including summer cleaning, the thorough cleaning of student and staff restrooms, sidewalk gum removal, and preparation of facilities related to special district events such as school site Board meetings and graduations. Assign and review work and participate in the selection of new personnel as assigned. Recommend and participate in disciplinary action as needed. Plan and direct in-service training for custodial personnel. Gather, evaluate, and analyze data to plan for the assigned area of responsibility. Review work orders and assign work to proper personnel. Provide work plans, layouts, cleaning schedules and instructions to staff. Develop and revise work schedules. Prioritize and coordinate duties and assignments of operations crews; assure effective work flow and facilitate operations. Prepare and submit recommendations related to staffing levels, purchase of equipment and supplies and special projects. Communicate with district and site administrators, personnel, vendors, sales representatives and others regarding cleaning and repair needs, work orders, supplies, materials and price quotations as needed. Determine needed equipment, materials and supplies for the district custodial operations. Approve material requisitions for a wide variety of supplies, tools and equipment. Review and revise work methods and procedures to assure efficiency, cost-effectiveness and compliance with established regulations, policies and standards of quality. Plan, schedule, and participate in inspection of school facilities, preparing reports of results. Plan and direct action necessary to correct safety hazards. Establish, implement and enforce district health and safety measures and precautions. Conduct health and safety related presentations and workshops as directed. Participate in the district classified employee Safety Committee. Assure the preparation and maintenance of required records, reports and statistics. Keep abreast of trends or developments in and evaluate and recommend adoption of new procedures, arrangements, layouts, types of material or equipment, or closely related changes to applicable functions. Recommend program for preventive maintenance and/or cycles of upkeep for buildings, or equipment. Operate district vehicles. Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of Principles, methods, materials, and equipment used in facilities planning, operation, and Custodial materials and equipment needed to maintain a school Requirements for proper cleaning and maintenance of district Principles and practices of management, budgeting, and cost Record-keeping District organization, operations, policies and Applicable sections of State Education Code and other applicable Technical aspects of field of Principles and practices of supervision and training. Oral and written communication Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and Chemicals used in custodial Appropriate safety precautions and procedures, including Universal Precautions Ability to Plan, design and implement custodial maintenance Plan and coordinate the work of custodial personnel and Initiate and implement industrial safety Inspect sites and determine custodial care and maintenance Estimate materials and supplies Perform mathematical computations accurately to estimate materials and costs, maintain records, complete reports or update Plan and organize Maintain records and prepare Operate a computer and use related Send and receive emails and research information through the Maintain and direct the keeping of work costs, plans, blueprints, and related Prepare comprehensive technical studies and reports, policies, regulations, proposals, schedules, and correspondence. Read, interpret and follow rules, regulations, policies and Read and interpret technical trades' manuals, instructions, and Prepare and interpret drawings and Work independently with little Train and supervise personnel. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action. Meet schedules and time lines. Operate a vehicle observing legal and defensive driving practices. Remain current with technical developments in the area of cleaning of buildings, evaluate them, and make recommendations regarding them. Analyze and evaluate data for specific use. Prioritize workload and conflicting demands. Use time management techniques to organize and prioritize work. Promote workplace diversity and a positive work environment. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Understand, be sensitive to and respect the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disabilities and sexual orientation of students, faculty, administrators and staff.
