ASUCLA was created when the campus first opened in 1919. Even in the very early years, ASUCLA meant student government, student publications, and student services such as a bookstore and cafeteria. Today, ASUCLA has evolved into a four-part organization. These four entities collectively make up the largest student association in the country.
The four entities are:
Undergraduate Students Association
  • elected representatives of the undergraduate student body. Graduate Students Association
  • elected representatives of the graduate student body. Student Media
  • this includes the Daily Bruin, UCLARadio.com, the Bruin Life Yearbook, and seven different magazines. Services & Enterprises
  • this division is designed to meet the everyday needs of students and the campus community.
Major divisions are the Student Union, Event Services, UCLA Restaurants, UCLA Store, UCLA Photography, and Trademarks & Licensing.
Goals of Associated Students UCLA:

Senior Custodian (Limited Appointment)

Maintenance Custodial Summary of Key Responsibilities:
Under direction of the Facilities Custodial Supervisor, cleans assigned areas, maintains stock levels in public facilities, and ensures that those facilities are secured upon completion. Duties and tasks will include some, or all, of the following: cleaning of offices, stairways, hallways, corridors, elevators, outside steps, terraces, patios, window sills; cleaning and deodorizing trash and public restrooms including the unclogging of toilets; cleaning mirrors, glass panels, and windows; moving and arranging furniture and equipment; polishing and waxing furniture, brass and other types of decorative materials; and the removal and disposal of trash from receptacles. Carefully controls usage of custodial cleaning and paper supplies. May perform repairs, such as changing light bulbs, and other basic maintenance tasks as requested or assigned. Adheres to established safety procedures. Assists other areas of the Division and performs special assignments. Reports damaged or missing ASUCLA property. Hours may include evenings, weekends and variable shifts in addition to overtime during peak periods.
Qualifications:
Requires 6+ months custodial experience that includes manual cleaning, and operation of floor cleaning/ carpet shampooing equipment.
Experience must demonstrate:
effective handling of multiple tasks within established timelines; the ability to follow written work orders; proficient and safe operation of hand tools and cleaning equipment; effective customer service skills; effective communication skills. Certain schedules are included in the California Department of Motor Vehicles' ("DMV")
PULL NOTICE SYSTEM. ASUCLA
will receive notices of any convictions for moving vehicle violations, both on and off the job. Employment is contingent on the maintenance of a valid CA driver's license and good driving record, as defined by the DMV and ASUCLA.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, gripping, pulling, pushing, climbing and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Background Verification:
Fingerprinting Background Verification required for day shifts.
