This role will work independently within a larger team to ensure our 11 classrooms, dining room, break room, offices, and other areas within the building are well maintained. Duties include but are not limited to sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and cleaning bathrooms; emptying trash and recycling receptacles; cleaning windows, walls, and furniture; and performing minor maintenance and repairs. The custodian must also be able to follow security protocols and help ensure the safety of the school's students, faculty, and visitors. Other duties may include providing support during special events, setting up and taking down furniture and equipment. The successful candidate will possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision. This is a part-time role with a set schedule of Monday - Friday 5:30 PM - 9:30 PM, with occasional variations as needed
Job Duties Cleaning & Sanitization:
Sweep, Mop, and Vacuum floors daily to maintain cleanliness. Disinfect and sanitize surfaces, play area, and high touch point areas. Ensure bathrooms and diaper changing stations are sanitized and stocked with supplies. Wash and dry towels, sheets, and classroom items
Waste Management:
Empty trash bins and replace liners regularly. Dispose of waste properly.
Facility Maintenance:
Check for and report maintenance issues (e.g., broken fixtures, leaks, HVAC concerns) Handle minor repair and maintenance activities such as bulb replacement and floor buffing in partnership with the maintenance team Assist in the setup and tear-down of decorations and furniture for school events and programs Safety & Compliance Follow all health and safety guidelines, including those set by state childcare regulations Use cleaning chemicals safely and store them properly. Other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements:
Previous Custodial or Janitorial experience preferred. Experience in a school setting preferred Knowledge of proper cleaning, and sanitizations procedures for child-care environments. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (typically 25-50 lbs.). Capable of standing, bending, reaching, and walking for extended periods. Comfortable working in various conditions, including exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, and outdoor elements. Strong attention to dealing with and ability to work independently. Must pass a background check (required for working in a school setting). Some positions may require a valid driver's license. Availability for early morning, evening, or weekend shifts, depending on school needs.
