Position:
Janitor (Temporary Position) Schedule (Part-Time)
Position Summary:
The Janitor is responsible for the maintenance of the overall facility building and grounds to ensure that they remain clean and in good repair, including supervising and guiding participants in their life skills development assignments for housekeeping, maintenance, and landscaping.
Essential Job Functions:
Maintain the facility grounds and building to consistently ensure safe and efficient operating conditions. Maintain an inventory of supplies, equipment, donated items, and a tool control system. Clean and maintain both employee and client restrooms throughout day as scheduled and/or as necessary. Respond to emergency and routine work orders on a daily basis to ensure that problems in the building or grounds are assessed, repaired, or replaced in a timely manner. Liaison with Program Manager regarding all financial matters related to building repair. Participate in daily shift exchange including documenting in facility log at end of shift and thoroughly reviewing log at start of shift. Maintain a system for responding and addressing maintenance issues by Staff and Patients. Maintain an inventory of break room supplies and cleaning equipment. Upkeep of Material Safety Data Sheets in binder of cleaning material. Inform supervisor to contact vendors of necessary building maintenance repair that are outside of scope of routine maintenance. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must be a at least 18 years of age or older. Five years' experience in general semi-skilled maintenance and repair work or as a building maintenance or construction trades worker. Experience working with individuals and groups in a confined setting is preferred. Must possess knowledge of common methods, practices and materials used in maintenance and repair work of buildings and building facilities. Must be familiar with the various tools used in building maintenance and repair work and their proper employment and care. Must be familiar with OSHA standards. Good computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office. Good organizational, communication and writing skills. Attention to detail and the ability to exercise good judgment and discretion. Ability to work well in a team environment. Minimum one (1) year experience working in a program servicing persons with mental disabilities. Ability to be sensitive to trauma and gender while interacting with participants. Must be able to pass a criminal history background screening (Live-scan), as well as maintain current First Aid & CPR Certification, physical health screening exam, and Negative Tuberculosis test results.
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
Working Conditions:
Work is primarily performed in an office and residential facility. Some outdoor activities may be required. The ability to work in a busy environment. Some travel may be required. Physical Demands Occasional lifting, pushing, and pulling more than 50 pounds; Sitting, standing, walking, reaching are performed in the normal course of the position; Use of janitorial equipment (broom, mop, brushes, duster) Appropriate personal protective equipment will be readily available to every employee engaged in potential exposure.
Supervision Supervision:
The employee performs a variety of routine tasks, works within established policies and procedures, and receives detailed instructions on new projects and assignments from Program Manager.
Supervision Given:
This position does not provide supervisory responsibilities.
Pay:
$23.00 - $27.21 per hour
