Facilities Custodial Lead Job Description This role offers a hands-on leadership opportunity supporting facilities operations across both manufacturing and corporate office environments. As a Facilities Custodial Lead, you coordinate daily activities, promote Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and 5S initiatives, and help ensure a safe, efficient, and well-maintained workplace. You will work closely with vendors, support preventive maintenance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams while developing leadership skills by guiding and supporting a facilities team. This position is well-suited for someone looking to grow into a Facilities Custodial Supervisor role within a fast-paced manufacturing setting. Responsibilities Support and promote Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies and procedures to maintain a safe, compliant, and efficient workplace across manufacturing and office areas. Assist in sustaining the site 5S program to ensure workplace organization, cleanliness, and standardization on the production floor and in office spaces. Serve as a primary point of contact for facilities-related requests, including maintenance, workspace setup, and general services. Coordinate preventive maintenance activities and routine facility inspections to support equipment uptime and overall facility operations. Maintain inventory and coordinate ordering of office, janitorial, and breakroom supplies to support daily operations. Schedule and coordinate vendors and contractors, such as HVAC, janitorial, and maintenance providers, ensuring work is completed safely and in compliance with site requirements. Provide daily coordination and task assignment to Facilities Coordinators and Assistants, ensuring timely completion of work orders and service requests. Track, prioritize, and respond to work orders using a facilities or CMMS system, including service tickets and maintenance requests. Assist with office moves, workstation setups, and space planning to support evolving business needs. Identify basic process improvement opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery. Model safe work practices and reinforce adherence to safety protocols in both manufacturing and office environments. Report safety concerns, incidents, and maintenance issues promptly to the Facilities Supervisor. Support onboarding and training of new team members on facilities processes, safety practices, and service expectations. Communicate updates on schedules, procedures, and priorities to the facilities team and key stakeholders. Perform other facilities-related duties and responsibilities as assigned. Provide day-to-day coordination and support for the facilities team in both manufacturing and office settings. Act as a working lead, balancing hands-on custodial and facilities responsibilities with team coordination. Partner with the Facilities Supervisor to align on priorities, scheduling, and operational needs. Provide guidance, support, and informal performance feedback to team members to help them meet expectations. Escalate complex issues, risks, or resource constraints to management as needed to ensure timely resolution. Essential Skills 3-5+ years of experience in facilities, manufacturing support, or corporate office environments. 3-5+ years of experience in a lead, coordinator, or team support role, including prior responsibility for managing 4 or more employees. Hands-on custodial, cleaning, and janitorial experience in an active facility setting. Familiarity with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) standards and practices. Experience with 5S principles and workplace organization in manufacturing or office environments. Knowledge of basic facility maintenance practices, including minor repair activities. Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or work order management system. Ability to perform accurate computer data entry and manage work orders electronically. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and requests. Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with internal teams, vendors, and contractors. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and address operational issues. Experience coordinating vendors, contractors, and service providers and maintaining vendor relationships. Ability to safely use power tools and basic equipment associated with custodial and facility maintenance work. Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment, including cleanroom areas, and follow all safety protocols. Capability to walk throughout the site, stand for extended periods, bend, lift, and move supplies or materials as required by the role. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in cleanroom environments or other controlled manufacturing areas. Background in both manufacturing and corporate office facilities support. Previous experience supporting office moves, space planning, and workstation setups. Experience providing informal leadership, coaching, and feedback to facilities or custodial staff. Comfort working with service tickets and maintenance requests in a CMMS or similar system. Experience with vendor scheduling and oversight to ensure safe and compliant completion of work. Demonstrated interest in process improvement and continuous enhancement of facilities operations. Ability to work overtime or be on call as required to support facility needs. Why Work Here? Work Environment Work takes place in an active facility environment that includes both manufacturing areas and corporate office spaces, including specific cleanrooms. You will regularly interact with multiple departments and must be comfortable walking throughout the site, standing for extended periods, bending, lifting, and moving supplies or materials. The role involves working safely around vendors, contractors, equipment, and general site operations, including the use of power tools and custodial equipment. The standard schedule is 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., five days per week, with overtime and on-call work as required to support operational needs. Work is performed on-site at a manufacturing location in Sunnyvale, within a structured, safety-focused environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sunnyvale, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
