Job Description:

The School Custodian is responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure that the school environment remains clean, safe, and conducive to learning. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a positive, team-oriented attitude. This position requires someone who can work independently as well as collaborate effectively with others to accomplish daily tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

Clean and sanitize classrooms, hallways, restrooms, cafeteria, and other school areas as needed. Sweep, mop, vacuum floors, and clean surfaces, windows, and walls. Empty trash and recycling bins, and dispose of waste in a proper and safe manner. Replenish cleaning and restroom supplies as needed. Maintain cleanliness in outdoor areas, including sidewalks, parking lots, and entryways. Set up and break down for special events, meetings, and school functions as needed. Follow cleaning schedules and ensure that all areas are cleaned in a timely manner. Report any issues such as maintenance or safety concerns to supervisors.

Qualifications:

Strong work ethic with a focus on attention to detail and commitment to quality. Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact respectfully with students, staff, and visitors. Ability to work independently and follow instructions with minimal supervision. A team player who is willing to work collaboratively with others. Reliable and punctual, with a positive attitude toward work. Physically capable of performing custodial duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Previous custodial or janitorial experience is preferred but not required. Must pass a background check and meet any other required school safety protocols.
