30 hours/day (Monday-Friday) The Beth-El Center's mission is to extend dignity and respect to all individuals and families while connecting them to housing, food and services within their communities. Our vision is to create a community where everyone is home, and all are fed! The Beth-El Center is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that provides support services and advocacy to those experiencing homelessness and hunger within the Greater Milford community. Through our 34-bed homeless shelter, food service programs, diversion services and outreach and engagement efforts, we offer individuals, families and veteran's long-term solutions to help them reclaim their lives. This shelter operates on a Housing First model, which prioritizes providing stable housing as a first step toward addressing homelessness. You will work closely with shelter guests to promote their safety, well-being, and self-sufficiency while creating a welcoming and non-judgmental environment.
JOB SUMMARY
The Janitor at Beth-El Center will play an essential role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our residents, guests, and staff. This position includes daily cleaning and sanitization of the facility's interior spaces and parking lot to meet health and safety standards. The Custodian plays an important role in helping maintain a calm, safe, trauma-informed environment and is expected to interact with guests in a respectful and professional manner at all times.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Follow all OSHA safety standards related to cleaning and sanitation Clean and sanitize all common areas, bathrooms, hallways, and kitchen facilities daily. Sweep, mop, vacuum, and disinfect surfaces to maintain a hygienic environment. Wash, dry, fold, and store linens, towels, and other necessary laundry items. Perform scheduled deep-cleaning tasks, such as cleaning windows, blinds, baseboards, and vents. Organize and maintain storage closets for cleaning equipment and supplies. Restock cleaning supplies, paper products, and other materials as needed. Ensure guest rooms/areas are cleaned and maintained according to standards, including bed-making and restocking toiletries upon move-out. Regularly disinfect high-touch surfaces such as door handles, light switches, and communal equipment. Maintain professional, respectful, and trauma-informed interactions with guests, staff, volunteers, and community members at all times. Respond to urgent cleaning needs promptly, such as spills or biohazard incidents. Sweep and maintain cleanliness in entryways, sidewalks, and outdoor seating areas. Remove litter and debris from the parking lot and surrounding grounds. Perform minor maintenance, including repairs, painting, plumbing, and general upkeep Follow established safety guidelines and use cleaning products and equipment responsibly. Report any maintenance or repair needs to the supervisor promptly. Perform other related duties as assigned to support the mission of the Beth-El Center.

Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
