Custodian/Building Maintenance - Seymour, CT

RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform minor repairs and general maintenance tasks, such as painting, drywall, minor electrical issues, light carpentry, minor machine repair, replacing lights or changing filters prioritizing safety first. Sweep, mop, and clean floors. Duties may also include more specialized tasks, such as waxing, stripping and buffing. Respond promptly to spills or other accidents to ensure the safety of building occupants. Arrange or move furniture and equipment for meetings, events, or other functions. Assist with outdoor tasks litter cleanup, snow shoveling and walkway cleaning. Monitor buildings and grounds for safety and security issues and promptly reports them to Facilities Manager. Performs periodic building preventative maintenance (PM) tasks as required in PM software system. May work between Thule locations in Seymour and Milford as projects require. Other duties as required and assigned by the Facilities Manager or management team.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

High School education or GED equivalent. Ability to operate forklift, scissor lift, floor machine and other specialized equipment a plus but training will be provided. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively. Must have the ability to perform significant physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting or moving heavy objects up to 75 pounds. Strong communication skills needed to coordinate with supervisors, staff, and building occupants. Ability to understand and follow safety protocols for handling cleaning chemicals, operating equipment, and disposing of hazardous materials is necessary.
