Why This Role Matters As a Custodial Supervisor, you play a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and professional environment for building occupants and visitors. This position is designated as Essential Personnel, requiring reliable attendance during contract-critical operations and inclement weather events when other employees may not be required to report to work. Your leadership ensures high-quality custodial services, operational efficiency, safety compliance, and a positive team culture. What You Will Do Team Leadership & Operations Organize, direct, supervise, and evaluate custodial staff to ensure work is completed according to contract requirements and quality standards. Assign daily tasks and distribute supplies and equipment to team members. Inspect completed work and provide coaching and corrective guidance as needed. Lead by example through dependability, professionalism, strong work ethic, and positive business conduct. Foster a collaborative team environment focused on quality service and customer satisfaction. Custodial Services Oversee and support staff in performing: Cleaning hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevator banks, stairways, locker rooms, and other assigned areas. Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and waxing floors using manual and powered equipment. Polishing fixtures and metalwork. Washing windows, door panels, and sills. Emptying waste receptacles and removing trash. Replenishing restroom and janitorial supplies. Training & Employee Development Train employees on custodial procedures, safety practices, and proper use of equipment and supplies. Reinforce standard operating procedures and quality expectations. Support employees by addressing concerns, resolving issues, and escalating matters to management when appropriate. Equipment & Safety Operate and oversee the safe use of custodial and grounds equipment, including scrubbers, vacuums, blowers, snow blowers, EZ-Go vehicles, and similar equipment. Operate power equipment such as two-stage snow blowers and John Deere skid-loader/snowplow equipment when required. Ensure compliance with all safety standards, policies, and procedures. Act as a responsible steward of company and government resources. Inclement Weather Response Report to work as required during weather-related events. Remove snow and ice from walkways, entrances, and loading dock ramps. Apply snow and ice melting materials to maintain safe access to facilities. Administrative Responsibilities Complete required documentation, reports, and records accurately and timely. Maintain training certifications and complete all required Didlake training programs. What You Bring Education & Experience High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of one (1) year of recent experience in commercial custodial or maintenance services. Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred. Ability to successfully obtain and maintain required security clearance/background check. Skills & Abilities Knowledge of commercial custodial equipment, cleaning products, and related chemicals. Ability to safely operate custodial and snow-removal equipment. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to understand instructions and communicate effectively with employees and customers. Ability to train, coach, and motivate staff while reinforcing safe work practices and operating procedures. Sound judgment and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively and positively with employees with disabilities. Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, reliability, flexibility, and commitment to teamwork.
