Job Description
Dunnellon Christian Academy is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and detail-oriented Evening Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment for our students and staff. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys working independently, and understands the importance of providing a clean environment where children can learn and grow. Schedule Monday-Friday Approximately 3:30 p.m. until completion (typically 4-6 hours per evening) School-year position following the Academy calendar Most holidays, school breaks, and summer months off Occasional summer work may be available for deep cleaning or special projects as needed Responsibilities Sweep, vacuum, mop, and sanitize classrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas based on the weekly schedule. Sweep and mop several designated areas daily to maintain a clean and safe environment. Clean and disinfect student and staff restrooms. Empty trash throughout the campus, replace liners, and lift large trash bags into the outdoor dumpster. Clean glass doors, entryways, and high-touch surfaces. Restock restrooms and cleaning supplies. Report maintenance concerns or safety hazards to the Facilities Manager. Assist with occasional deep cleaning projects during school breaks or summer months as needed. Maintain a clean, organized, and secure work environment. Qualifications Previous custodial or commercial cleaning experience preferred but not required. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail and dependable attendance. Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds, including lifting large trash bags into a dumpster. Ability to perform bending, stooping, walking, climbing stairs, standing for extended periods, and other physical tasks throughout the shift. Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals according to manufacturer guidelines. Reliable transportation. Must complete an FDLE Level 2 Background Screening (required for all school employees). Preferred Qualifications Experience cleaning schools, churches, childcare facilities, or commercial buildings. Basic knowledge of minor building maintenance is a plus.
