Parts Cleaner Lakeland, FL 33803 From $16 an hour - Full-time From $16 an hour - Full-time Position Summar Smith Challenger Manufacturing & Services, Inc. is hiring a Parts Cleaner to join our growing manufacturing team. We build road construction sweepers used across the U.S. and internationally. This is a hands-on role working with hydraulic and mechanical systems in a fast-paced production environment. The Parts Cleaner is responsible for cleaning, degreasing, and preparing automotive and heavy equipment parts and components for inspection, assembly, machining, or shipping. This role plays a key part in maintaining quality standards by ensuring parts are free of debris, grease, rust, and other contaminants before moving further down the production line. Key Responsibilities Clean parts and components using approved methods, including parts washers, solvent tanks, pressure washers, ultrasonic cleaners, and/or abrasive blasting equipment Inspect cleaned parts for residual contamination, damage, or defects and flag issues to supervisors or quality control Select appropriate cleaning agents, solvents, and equipment based on part material and contamination type Safely handle and dispose of solvents, degreasers, and other cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety and environmental regulations Operate and perform basic maintenance on cleaning equipment (parts washers, blast cabinets, etc.) Sort, label, and stage cleaned parts for the next stage of production or shipment Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area Follow all PPE requirements (gloves, eye protection, respiratory protection as needed) Maintain accurate records of parts cleaned, quantities processed, and any rework/rejects Adhere to all company safety protocols, including OSHA and hazardous materials handling guidelines Support other production tasks as assigned during downtime Qualifications 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or automotive/heavy equipment environment preferred Experience with parts washing equipment, solvents, or degreasing processes a plus Basic understanding of mechanical parts and components Ability to read and follow work instructions, safety data sheets (SDS), and standard operating procedures Familiarity with hazardous material handling and PPE requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods (up to full shift) Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly Ability to work around solvents, chemicals, and industrial cleaning equipment Comfortable working in an environment with fumes, noise, and varying temperatures Manual dexterity for handling small to large parts Work Environment This position is performed in a shop floor/production environment. Exposure to industrial cleaning chemicals, solvents, noise, and moving equipment is expected. Appropriate PPE will be provided and required.
