Day Porter

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Facility Custodian responsible for maintaining cleanliness, safety, and overall efficiency within the organization. This role plays a vital part in ensuring our facilities reflect a clean, well-kept environment and meet hygiene standards. The Custodian will follow a structured cleaning schedule and complete assigned tasks in a timely and thorough manner.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform walkthrough of parking garage, beginning at the entrance, to remove any trash or debris. Empty all waste baskets, trash cans, and recycling bins into designated containers. Replace bag liners if they are ripped, soiled, or wet. Empty and clean all ashtrays and cigarette receptacles. Transport collected trash to designated location for pickup by Shift Supervisor. Address immediate cleaning needs due to incidental spills, leaks, or debris in high-traffic areas (e.g., stairs, elevators, lobby). Sweep and damp mop all hard flooring surfaces, including stone and elevator floors; spot clean as needed. Clean all glass surfaces for visibility and appearance. Inspect and remove spider webs as necessary. Refill paper towels, sanitary tissues, and soap dispensers as needed. Sanitize all drinking fountains. Sweep and clean stairwells and landings. Spot clean stains or spills on carpeted areas using appropriate products. Clean and polish glass and metal surfaces at facility entrances and lobbies (interior & exterior). Dust wall hangings, signage, decorative fixtures, exposed piping, security cameras, call boxes, and overhead sensors. Maintain wooden surfaces using approved polish, avoiding watermarks or damage.

Qualifications:

Prior custodial or janitorial experience is a plus. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks throughout shift. Strong attention to detail and cleanliness standards. Ability to follow cleaning protocols and use cleaning equipment and chemicals safely. Must be punctual, reliable, and able to work independently.
