Maintenance and Custodial Person

06/26/2026 St. Henry Catholic Parish, in Pompano Beach, Florida has a position for a full-time Maintenance/Custodial Person. The candidate is responsible for maintaining parish buildings, grounds, and equipment in a clean, safe, and functional condition. This position performs custodial duties, routine maintenance, minor repairs, and event support to ensure that parish facilities remain welcoming and well-maintained while supporting the mission of the parish. The candidate performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Archdiocese of Miami.
Schedule:
Tuesday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain parish buildings, grounds, and equipment in a clean, safe, and functional condition. Perform routine custodial services and preventive maintenance. Complete minor repairs, including basic plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and general maintenance work. Inspect facilities regularly and identify maintenance, repair, and safety needs. Coordinate and monitor work performed by outside contractors and service providers. Assist with the setup and breakdown of parish liturgies, meetings, and special events. Maintain maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment. Follow all safety regulations and report hazardous conditions promptly. Support emergency preparedness and facility security efforts as directed. Perform other maintenance and custodial duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience in maintenance, custodial services, or related trades preferred. Knowledge of general building maintenance and custodial practices. Basic understanding of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC systems. Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and the proper use of tools and equipment. Ability to work with varying weather conditions, noise, dust, and maintenance equipment. Able to follow all safety procedures and use appropriate protective equipment when required. Valid driver's license preferred. Ability to communicate effectively in English; Spanish and/or Haitian Creole preferred.
