JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for cleaning and performing all phases of building custodial work for the Sheriff's Headquarters and Training buildings. The purpose is to keep an acceptable standard of attractiveness, and utility, creating a pleasant environment for employees and the general public.

CHAIN OF COMMAND

This position answers directly to the Administrative Services Division Lieutenant.

CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

Cleans all restrooms in assigned buildings to include, but not limited to, restocking of paper products, cleaning toilets, urinals, sinks, partitions, walls, fixtures and floors. Cleans all floors and rugs of common and public areas in assigned buildings to include, but not limited to, sweeping, mopping, or vacuuming. Cleans all common and public areas in assigned buildings to include, but not limited to, dusting, cleaning light fixtures, HVAC grills, blinds, counters, and sinks. Cleans all conference rooms in assigned buildings to include, but not limited to, sweeping, vacuuming, or mopping floors, cleaning light fixtures, dusting, HVAC grills, tables, chairs, walls and blinds. Cleans all kitchen and break rooms in assigned buildings, to include, but not limited to, sweeping, vacuuming, or mopping floors, dusting, cleaning light fixtures, HVAC grills, tables, chairs, walls, counters, sinks, and appliances. Cleans all doors and windows of common and public areas in assigned buildings. Cleans all stairwells and landings in assigned buildings. Empties and replaces trash bags for all trash receptacles in assigned buildings daily. Responds to custodial issues as assigned. Performs other duties as needed.

KNOWLEDGE OR SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION

Knowledge of the methods, techniques, and standards used in custodial work. Skills in use of mops, brooms, vacuums, and other related cleaning tools. Skills in understanding and following oral and written instructions. Ability to communicate with other employees and the general public.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver's license. Must pass all pre-employment testing. Must pass any and all drug screening.

BASIC PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES REQUIRED

Walking, bending, reaching, and climbing stairs and ladders. Lifting, dragging, pulling, and/or carrying heavy objects and equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must meet appearance standards as set forth by the Sheriff.
