Janitor Job Description This role provides full-service janitorial support across a large corporate campus, ensuring that offices, labs, conference rooms, lobbies, and restrooms remain clean, sanitized, and presentable. You will perform a wide range of custodial tasks, work on your feet throughout the shift, and interact professionally with building occupants while maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and customer service. Responsibilities Perform daily janitorial and custodial duties throughout the facility, including offices, cubicles, labs, lobbies, conference rooms, and common areas. Clean and sanitize office spaces, common areas, and high-touch surfaces to maintain a safe and hygienic environment. Spray and wash tables and other surfaces in shared spaces and break areas. Clean and restock restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, dispensers, and supplies. Wipe handles, counters, and frequently touched surfaces to support sanitation standards. Remove trash and recycling from offices, restrooms, and common areas and transport to designated disposal locations. Wash interior windows and glass surfaces as assigned to keep areas clear and presentable. Sweep, mop, dust, and vacuum floors and surfaces across the campus as needed. Follow established cleaning schedules and checklists to ensure all assigned areas receive consistent attention. Work independently to complete tasks efficiently while meeting quality and safety expectations. Provide friendly, approachable customer service and interact professionally with building occupants on a 24-hour site. Use provided personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses and gloves, and follow all safety guidelines while performing cleaning and sanitizing tasks. Essential Skills At least 1 year of previous experience in cleaning, janitorial, custodial, sanitizing, environmental services, or housekeeping work. Proven janitorial and custodial skills, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and trash removal. Experience with cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, offices, and common areas. Ability to work on your feet for the entire shift and walk long distances across a large campus. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards. Friendly and approachable demeanor with the ability to interact professionally with people in a busy, 24-hour facility. Reliability and strong attendance, with a commitment to showing up on time for all scheduled shifts. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a large facility or campus environment is an advantage. Comfort working in a fast-paced setting with frequent movement between different building areas. Willingness to follow established procedures, checklists, and safety protocols. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and respond to cleaning needs as they arise. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Des Moines, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.50 - $16.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
