HIRING RANGE
$18.30-$20.66 per hour based on experience.
Pay Grade:
06 Job Summary Keep buildings or portions of campuses neat, clean and sanitary for use by the college community. Perform mechanical, electrical and plumbing repairs. Act on behalf of the supervisor as directed. Essential Functions Perform various building cleaning tasks including but not limited to: thoroughly clean the restrooms; clean and vacuum carpets; maintain hard surface flooring; remove all trash and recycle materials; clean chalkboards, whiteboards, ledges and erasers; clean glass; wash windows; dust furniture; clean ceiling diffusers; clean trash cans; clean walls; clean out janitor's closets; other tasks as required or needed. Perform mechanical, electrical and plumbing repairs. Maintain grounds including but not limited to: snow removal; mowing; planting; fertilizing; aeration. Order and maintain appropriate custodial supplies from Physical Plant warehouse. Secure buildings before leaving. Provide work direction to custodians, temporary workers, work study students and community service workers as assigned. Complete ongoing training on operation of all equipment, safety regulations, and use of new products and techniques. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications One year of custodial experience which included operation of extractors, burnishers, auto scrubbers, and related equipment, and which included or was supplemented by some minor building maintenance experience. Ability to read and understand operating instructions. Ability to periodically move equipment/furniture/supplies weighing up to 75 lbs; occasionally climb ladders; frequently bend, reach, and push. Valid Iowa driver's license, or ability to obtain, with a satisfactory driving record. Ability to interact effectively, courteously and impartially with varied populations. Desired Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent.
