Job Description
Job Overview The Janitorial employee is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of facility areas throughout the year, especially following events. Duties include cleaning and inspecting the Exhibit Hall, Sale Barn, restrooms, kitchen areas, floors, windows, and food booth areas. Responsibilities also include trash removal, sanitizing surfaces, restocking supplies, and ensuring all spaces remain clean and event-ready. Additional responsibilities include scheduled maintenance of vinyl flooring in key facility areas through stripping, waxing, and buffing to maintain safe and polished floors. The employee must report any damages, maintenance concerns, or safety hazards to Maintenance staff promptly and work cooperatively with Maintenance personnel to monitor and help order cleaning supplies as needed. Attendance at two annual Fairboard meetings in July and September is required to provide updates regarding facility cleanliness and operational needs. Starting pay is $25 per hour and you will be contracted to clean our fair grounds from July 27-August 3rd with a wage of $1000 for the week. This is a 1099 position. Responsibilities Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and trash removal to keep all areas spotless. Maintain cleanliness of restrooms by sanitizing fixtures, replenishing supplies, and ensuring hygiene standards are met. Conduct floor care activities such as buffing, waxing, stripping, and polishing to preserve the appearance of various flooring surfaces. Handle industrial cleaning duties in specialized areas using appropriate equipment and cleaning agents. Assist with facilities maintenance tasks like minor repairs or reporting issues that require professional attention. Support commercial cleaning projects for offices, warehouses, or retail spaces by following detailed cleaning protocols. Ensure all cleaning supplies and equipment are properly stored, maintained, and used safely according to company policies. Skills Proven experience in janitorial or custodial roles with a strong understanding of cleaning procedures. Knowledge of floor care techniques including buffing, waxing, and stripping floors. Familiarity with industrial cleaning methods and commercial cleaning standards. Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as buffers, vacuums, pressure washers, and floor scrubbers safely and effectively. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills to prioritize tasks efficiently. Good physical stamina to perform manual tasks involving standing, bending, lifting, and moving objects.
