Job Description

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming campus environment. This role is essential in supporting students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors by ensuring facilities meet University cleanliness and safety standards. The Custodian will primarily be assigned to one campus building. This position will work on 3rd shift, 10:30 pm-7:00 am, Sunday-Thursday night. Clean and maintain assigned campus facilities, including: Entryways, hallways, stairwells Restrooms and shower areas Classrooms and common spaces Emptying trash and maintaining general cleanliness. Complete deep-cleaning and special projects such as carpet cleaning and hard floor refinishing, particularly during summer months. Perform detailed cleaning of vacated rooms or facility areas as assigned. Assist with campus event setup and breakdown, including Graduation, Homecoming, and other special events. Help maintain department-assigned vehicles. Keep work areas neat, organized, and safe. Collaborate with other departments and team members as needed. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager of Building Services. A lifestyle in agreement with the ONU Statement of Mission, Faith, and Lifestyle Covenant . Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and organize tasks. Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing priorities. Valid driver's license with the ability to become an approved University driver. Physical ability to climb ladders and safely operate cleaning equipment (vacuums, mops, brooms, etc.). Lift up to approximately 50 pounds. Ability to communicate professionally with students, faculty, and staff while completing duties.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The Custodian will primarily be assigned to one campus building for which to clean and care. However, the building services team of custodians often pitch in on special event set-up or cleaning during peak seasons anywhere on campus. Custodians must be able to handle cleaning solutions and operate the cleaning tools provided. A comfort level of lifting 50 lbs. is encouraged. The Custodian reports to the 3 rd shift building services manager.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
