The Dundee Township Park District is seeking a Custodial Supervisor to oversee custodial staff, maintain facilities, and ensure our buildings meet the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. Custodial & Facility Responsibilities Perform daily custodial duties and provide hands-on support to staff. Conduct regular and preventative maintenance on facilities, equipment, and machinery. Inspect building areas, equipment, and custodial work, recommending and directing corrective measures as needed. Arrange rooms for meetings, special events, and programs. Maintain inventories, order supplies, and ensure proper distribution of equipment. Contribute to a safe and welcoming environment that respects cultural diversity. Supervisory Responsibilities Plan, assign, and supervise custodial staff to ensure high-quality service. Conduct performance feedback and contribute to performance appraisals. Recruit, hire, and train custodial personnel in collaboration with Human Resources and management. Monitor employee attendance, review time records, and ensure compliance with departmental policies. Administration & Budget Ensure compliance with budgetary limits and recommend cost-saving procedures. Monitor operations to maintain service quality while controlling expenses. Communication & Customer Service Develop positive working relationships with staff and patrons. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers. Communicate issues, recommendations, and feedback promptly and professionally. Safety & Risk Management Maintain knowledge of all safety rules and procedures. Report work-related injuries, unsafe conditions, and accidents promptly. Correct hazards when possible and instruct co-workers on safe practices.What You Bring:
Experience & Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 3 years' experience in custodial or building maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Knowledge of commercial cleaning practices. Licenses & Certifications Illinois Class D Driver's License required. Spanish language proficiency preferred. Skills & Abilities Strong mechanical aptitude, including use of tools and machinery. Ability to work independently and pay attention to detail. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Ability to work a varied schedule, including nights and weekends. Physical capability to lift, bend, squat, and perform manual labor as needed. Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, twisting, bending, and reaching overhead.Lifting requirements:
light (up to 10 lbs.), medium (up to 30 lbs.), and heavy work (up to 50 lbs. with assistance). Work Environment & Hours Exposure to indoor and outdoor environments, including varying temperatures, noise, dust, and equipment operation. Full-time, non-exempt position; minimum 40 hours per week with occasional weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
