Job Description

Under supervision, performs a variety of manual tasks required to maintain the cleanliness, appearance, and sanitation of the interior and exterior of Village facilities. Responsibilities include routine custodial services, floor maintenance, snow removal, operation of custodial equipment, support of Village special events, and the operation of Village vehicles to perform work at various facilities. The position requires adherence to established safety practices, Village policies, and service standards to ensure clean, safe, and well-maintained public facilities. Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the interior and exterior of Village facilities. Check exterior building areas for debris and dispose of as needed. Perform snow removal activities. Wash windows and clean and maintain carpeted and non-carpeted floors. Strip and wax floors and scrub restroom floors. Operate custodial equipment, including floor scrubbers and carpet shampoo/extractors. Assist with the setup, operation, and teardown of Village special events. Operate Village vehicles to perform work at various facilities, transport items, and assist with snowplowing operations. Maintain appropriate standards of cleanliness and sanitation. Follow all Village policies, procedures, and safety regulations. Report unsafe conditions, accidents, facility issues, and supply needs to supervisory personnel. Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to work independently following established procedures. Ability to maintain appropriate standards of cleanliness and sanitation. Ability to identify supply needs and report them to supervisory personnel. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, Village employees, and the public. Basic knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial operations. High school diploma or GED required. Six (6) months of janitorial experience in an office, commercial, or industrial setting preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position. Elementary knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in cleaning operations.
Certificates, Licenses & Registrations:
Must possess and maintain a valid Illinois driver's license.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to frequently stand, walk, reach, and perform custodial tasks. Ability to occasionally bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
