Job Description

The Orion School District, located in Orion, IL is seeking a full-time custodian starting approximately June 15th.
Applicant Qualities:
Hard worker, self-starter, able to balance multiple tasks, ability to work in a team setting or individually, must work well with the public and maintain a professional appearance.
Qualifications:

Performance Responsibilities Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean in accordance with school needs and seasonal requirements. Perform ongoing preventative maintenance concerning heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Report any major heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems problems to the maintenance supervisor and the school principal. Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.
Day Shift:
Raises the American flag at or before 8:00 a.m. each school day.
Night Shift:
Lower the American flag at or after 3:30 p.m. and put it away in an assigned location. Sweeps classrooms, vacuums as well as dusts furniture as assigned for each separate attendance center. Cleans corridors each day when their condition requires it. Scrubs, hoses down, and disinfects toilet floors as well as locker room floors daily, and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily. Washes all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice each year, and more frequently in areas where conditions require it. As the season demands, performs such yard keeping chores as grass cutting, tree trimming, removal of snow, spreading of salt on areas that require it, and the like, as necessary, to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition. Keeps all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation. Cleans all dry erase boards as requested. Makes such minor building repairs as is needed. Reports any damage to school property or major repairs needed promptly to the Director of Maintenance and/or Principal. Remains on the school premises during school hours unless the Director of Maintenance approves or is made aware of a situation promptly. Assumes responsibility of opening the school at the specific time designated by the supervising principal.
Night:
Closes the building each school day and checks before leaving that all doors and windows are secured, and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off. Moves furniture or equipment within or between buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the principal and/or the maintenance supervisor. Compiles with local laws and insurance procedures for the safety of the school and OSHA (Occupational Safety Health Act) regulations. To perform any other duties requested by the immediate supervisor
