Facilities Reports To:
Custodian and Grounds Manager Summary Performs routine cleaning of offices and public areas and maintains tile and carpeted floors. Duties and Responsibilities Include but not limited to as other duties may be assigned: Cleans, sweeps, dust mops, wet mops floors, stairways, corridors to ensure cleanliness of approximately 20,000 square feet. Performs routine maintenance of housekeeping equipment. Washes windows, inside and out. Operates heavy cleaning equipment such as scrubbing machines, high speed buffers, carpet shampooer or wet/dry vacuum. Transports internal and out-going County mail to and from County Buildings. Operates postage machine and processes daily mail. Identifies cleaning problems and determines appropriate remedies. Qualifications High school diploma or general education degree (GED) OR 1-3 months related experience and/or training; OR equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid Illinois Driver's License Knowledge of cleaning methods and procedures, knowledge of materials, supplies, and equipment in cleaning activities.
Communication Skills:
Ability to communicate in one - on - one and small group situations to other employees. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Physical Demands The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reach with hands and arms. Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Occasionally required to sit, climb, and/or balance. Occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Vision abilities such as close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. Work Environment While performing duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in this environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud. Schedule Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. 37.5 hours per work week. Compensation The pay range for this position is $18.45 - $23.38 depending on qualifications.
