Position:
1.0 Maintenance / Custodial Description Under the supervision of the Superintendent, Principal, and Director of Business Services cleans and maintains the facility to ensure a healthy work and learning environment. Keep buildings and grounds clean and attractive. Qualifications Ability to lift up to 40 lbs Strong work ethic Approved background check Candidates must possess strong collaborative, communication, and organizational skills Ability to work collaboratively, understand and carry out oral and written instructions, and interact positively with a variety of ages and cultural backgrounds Ability to work independently, engage with the public, and appropriately communicate information to District administration and staff, as well as to the community Rate of Pay Commensurate with qualifications and experience aligned

Essential Job Responsibilities:
Works collaboratively, understands and carries out oral and written instructions, and interacts positively with a diverse community. Empty waste baskets daily and pencil sharpeners as needed. Cleans all chalkboards and dry erase boards daily. Dust window sills, counter tops, etc. Sweep, mop and vacuum floors. Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors are set as required by the security policy and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy. Washes all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice a year, and more frequently if necessary. Keeps the grounds free from rubbish. Cleans corridors daily and more often as required. Cleans restrooms daily in areas assigned, by cleaning and disinfecting all floors, sanitary fixtures, stalls, and walls daily. Also cleans and disinfects all water coolers. Ensures remaining restrooms are cleaned by night custodians. Ensures all floors are maintained in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation. Picks up trash in areas assigned in the afternoon. In offices, cleans all areas including floors. Remains on the school premises during school hours, and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and his/her attendance is required by the Principal, Director of Buildings and Grounds, or Superintendent. Assumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school day and for determining, before leaving, that all doors and windows are secured, and all lights, except those left on for security reasons, are turned off. Move furniture for cleaning as needed and return neatly. Cleans doors, walls, windows and attached hardware daily. Removes graffiti as needed. Cleans and disinfects washroom and locker room floors, sinks, toilets, urinals and attached plumbing fixtures as needed. Maintains an inventory of supplies and equipment and requests replacement as needed, far enough in advance so as not to be hindered in performing his/her duties. Keeps school building premises, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, lawn areas, roof and play areas safe and clean. Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash and or waste. Reports immediately to the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor or the building administrator(s) any damage to school property. Moves furniture or equipment within the building as required for various activities. Keeps up and complies with District energy savings programs. Works independently, engages with the public, and appropriately communicates information to District administration and staff, as well as to the community while practicing confidentiality of specific District information as necessary. Participates in professional training to ensure ongoing certification as well as staying up-to-date on job specific content specific knowledge. Ability to manage physical demands of job: walking, navigating stairs, sitting for long periods of time, and lifting material. Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in school environment and community Helps to maintain a positive school district environment, utilize appropriate language, interactions and model positive behavior Maintains a safe working environment Some lifting of students, equipment, or materials may be required, not to exceed forty (40) pounds. Lifting of over forty (40) pounds will require the assistance of another adult Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent, Principal, Buildings and Grounds Supervisor, or Administrative designee
