POSITION SUMMARY
The YMCA of Muncie is seeking a dedicated and proactive Mitchell Full Time Custodian to join our facilities team. The Full Time Custodian is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the Mitchell building and grounds. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining a positive, welcoming environment for all families, guests, and staff. The Full Time Custodian will be hands-on with cleaning tasks while also ensuring high standards of cleanliness and safety are consistently maintained.OUR CULTURE

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Cleaning and Maintenance:
Perform routine cleaning dutiesin the classrooms and building, including sweepingclassrooms, hallways,moppinghallways and classrooms, dusting, trash removalfrom offices and classrooms, restroom sanitationin teachers and both children bathrooms,clean hallways with riding scrubber as well as the big gym floor,window washing, and vacuumingclassrooms and main office. Ensure all areas are cleaned according to YMCA standards.Inspect Facilities:
Conduct regular inspections of building areas toidentifyareas needing attention, including potential safety hazards. Ensure that any maintenance or repairs are reported and addressed promptly.Inventory Management:
Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.Safety and Compliance:
Follow and enforce safety procedures for both custodial staff and YMCA members. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in cleaning tasks and handling chemicals.Team Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with other departments to address custodial needs, including assisting with special events or facility changes.Training & Development:
Provide ongoing training to custodial staff on best practices, equipment usage, and safety protocols. Encourage team development and promote a positive work environment.Event Setup & Breakdown:
Assist with event preparations, setting up spaces for special programs, and breaking down after events.General Maintenance:
Assist with minor repairs and maintenance tasks, including changing light bulbs,maintainingequipment, and reporting significant issues to management.LEADERSHIP COMPETENCY MODEL

Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required;additionaltraining or certifications in custodial services or facilities management preferred.Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in custodial or janitorial services, with at least 1 year of supervisory experience.Skills:

Certifications:
CPR/First Aid certification preferred or ability to obtain within90 daysof hire.WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
