06/12/2026 About this opportunity: The starting salary for this position is $50,756.16. Monday- Friday 7:30 AM 4:00 PM 24 hour on call rotation. Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the United States without employer sponsorship. What you'll do and what you'll bring:
Position Function:
Oversee, assign, train, and evaluate work of custodians to ensure and maintain cleanliness and/or attractiveness of university Housing facilities.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Assign and review work, orient and train staff, and make recommendations as to interviewing and selection, performance appraisal, and discipline. 2. Inspect and monitor work areas where subordinates are assigned to ensure use of proper methods, equipment, etc., including consultation with other departments regarding problems or special needs. 3. Ensure proper coverage in the case of emergencies and/or special events, i.e., cleanups after fires, leaks, etc., and assign employees to provide custodial services related to special housing activities. 4. Maintain employee records, i.e., overtime, attendance, performance, and discipline; including taking disciplinary action and dealing with grievances as necessary. 5. Develop and conduct training sessions for employees (methods, procedures, products, safety); provide special individual training for new employees. 6. Provide training to group leaders regarding methods and objectives to ensure proper coverage in incumbent's absence. 7. Report building maintenance problems to supervisor and/or buildings mechanics. 8. Accurately maintain current inventory and records of supplies/equipment used in assigned buildings, including monitor, report, repair, and repair replacement needs; assist in preparing budget needs information. 9. Assist in making areas accessible to others from on and off campus. 10. Perform other related duties as assigned. 11. Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED with training in business or business-related areas. One through three years of custodial experience. Knowledge of custodial operations and equipment. Personal computer experience to include knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Hold a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
College or vocational training in related business or supervisory areas. Over three through five years of supervisory experience in a service function. Experience working with bargaining unit employees. Experience working in a university or large government complex.
