Job Description

Creating impactful, integrated, rigorous, and relevant educational experiences while focusing on developing positive relationships; East Gibson School Corporation is on a mission to prepare pre-kindergarten through 12th grade students within the eastern part of Gibson County in Southwestern Indiana to prepare for tomorrow's future. East Gibson School Corporation boasts a 14:1 teacher to student ratio with students scoring at or above Indiana state assessments. The East Gibson School Corporation embodies a close knit community filled with a rich, rural culture. East Gibson School Corporation is seeking a part time second shift custodian to assist in making the learning environment clean and safe for our staff and students. This role will work closely with the Wood Memorial Intermediate School administration and staff to clean the facility nightly in preparation for the next day's learning. We value individuals who take ownership of their work and hold themselves accountable and are seeking candidates who share in this commitment. You could be the right person for this important seat if you: Possess physical body, dexterity and coordination to achieve angles and positions required to perform various tasks including bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching overhead above the shoulders and horizontally, and ability to climb ladders and work from heights as necessary. Can distinguish between different chemical materials with ability to read and understand label information. Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills Can prioritize duties Can work in a professional manner with school community Work cooperatively with others Have sufficient strength and ability to independently and repeatedly lift, move and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds and to move and carry objects weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance. Can clean including, but is not limited to, removing trash, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, dusting, buffing, cleaning carpets, washing windows, scrubbing floors and ceilings, sanitizing restrooms, changing lights and ceiling tiles. Can assure safety during inclement weather including shoveling, salting, providing slip protection on wet floors. Can apply cleaning chemicals according to established safety procedures. Can adhere to safety measures for cleaning, lifting, moving, and operating equipment. Can advise building principal/Maintenance Department on matters relating to mechanical equipment and/or building maintenance. Can keep all equipment in a good state of repair and cleanliness. Have the ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator. Can secure all facilities as needed
