Job Description

Purpose of position: Employee is responsible for daily upkeep and maintenance of the County Courthouse building and the adjacent property. Employees will open and close the building and adequately always secures the building. The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be constructed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Cares and cleans all rest rooms; scrubs and disinfects toilets (washes walls around toilet basins and sinks), floors, all fixtures, cleans all mirrors and drinking fountains daily. Fills toilet paper, paper towels and soap dish. Washes entrance/exit glass doors daily, clean windows at least twice a year, including windowsills. Dust off file cabinets, counter tops, ceiling fans, windowsills (unless personal items- then office staff will clean) and furniture weekly. Including top of desk, phones, computers, and calculators, discuss with all departments heads prior. Vacuum all offices and office chairs, sweeps all tiles floored offices, bathrooms daily, as well as mops daily. Waxes floor monthly. Empties trash daily and cigarette urns (check periodically) Cleans basement break room (daily) and storage room of excess boxes, etc. Maintains cleanliness of elevator. Sweeps steps and rugs daily. Remove standing water in entrances. Operates equipment and floor machines as required. Reports any problems and supply needs to Smith County Clerk. Notifies County Commissioners of faulty equipment and needed improvements to the facility.
Marginal Duties and Responsibilities:
Changes light bulbs as requested. Performs minimal plumbing duties. Performs other duties assigned. Minimum Training and Experience Required to
Perform Essential Job Functions:
Six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. High school diploma or equivalent required. Other Requirements- Certificates/Licensures Valid Driver's License Drug Test, Pre-Employment Physical and Background check may be requested
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of an organization. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed less than one third of the time to conditions such moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions.
