Part Time, Non-Exempt (25 hours per week)
Compensation:
$15/hour Position Summary The role of custodian provides support in the areas of: 1) Cleaning and 2) Event Preparation. By maintaining the church building, the custodian will be providing a clean, orderly place to worship and congregate. The custodian should work well in a team environment with the church staff and lay leadership. This position is for Monday-Friday, 25 hours a week. Responsibilities Maintains a custodial maintenance log/checklist of duties that should be performed on a daily, weekly, quarterly, and yearly basis. Uses custodial checklist daily to ensure accurate and timely completion of sanitation duties. Performs general custodial duties including but not limited to mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, scrubbing floors, cleaning carpets, changing light bulbs, emptying trash, and washing windows/glass areas. While performing repair or maintenance, takes all available safety precautions for the protection of self and others and follows all safety policies and procedures. Operates custodial equipment, such as industrial sweepers, and uses a variety of cleaning and sanitizing agents in performing assigned tasks. Inspects church grounds on a daily basis and picks up trash anywhere on church grounds. Waters indoor and outdoor plants. Inspects condition of restroom facilities; cleans restroom facilities and replenishes supplies daily. Responds to, reports, and removes any safety hazards. Responds to emergency cleanups, such as spills and clogged drains. Maintains serviceability of equipment and tools. Keeps janitorial closets and cupboards clean and orderly at all times. Notifies supervisor of need for replacement of supplies; orders supplies and assists with putting away supplies as necessary. Assists office personnel with assigned tasks, such as moving boxes, cabinets, furniture, and other related office equipment. Provides set-up, teardown and clean-up for meetings and other events. Performs other related duties as assigned by church leadership. Required Skills/Abilities High School Diploma or equivalent. 3-5 years of custodial experience in a commercial or school setting preferred Understanding of cleaning techniques and safety procedures. Ability to lift up to 50lbs and pass a background check and possible preemployment drug screening. Strong communication, comprehension, and interpersonal skills. Motivation to work independently or with others to provide thorough, efficient custodial services to the church.

Ability to read and interpret general communication,, technical procedures, or regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, vendors, employees, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Possess the ability and willingness to: Operate equipment. Learn new programs/equipment and recommend appropriate processes.
