Job Description:
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Shift openings for 1st (7:15am-4:00pm) and 2nd shift (4:00pm-12am) This position performs janitorial, custodial, housekeeping, grounds keeping, or maintenance tasks. Primary work will be cleaning campus property such as offices, classrooms, corridors, walls, floors, windows, furniture, woodwork, toilets, lavatories or fixtures by washing, waxing, buffing, sweeping, polishing, dusting, or vacuum cleaning, and emptying and cleaning waste barrels, garbage cans, and other waste receptacles. Maintainers are designated as essential personnel with required snow removal duties.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Incumbents of positions at this level receive supervision from maintainers or other employees of higher grade, who provide instruction, assign work and review performance through verbal reports and visual inspection for compliance and instructions and established standards.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Incumbents of positions at this level may exercise functional supervision(i.e. over certain but not all activities or over some or all work activities on a a temporary basis) over 1-5 service and/or maintenance personnel.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Maintainers stand and walk for prolonged periods of time, lift and carry heavy objects: work outdoors in all types of weather, worked varies shifts, weekends, holidays, or nights, are exposed to the hazard of wet, slippery floors, work under exposure to the hazards to chemicals, toxic and noxious fumes, dust, excessive heat, high noise levels, high volume traffic conditions, and high voltage wires, work from ladders and scaffolds, and may be required to climb trees and operate motor vehicles.

Additional Information:
This is a full-time, non-exempt, benefits-eligible position in the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) bargaining unit with a title of Maintainer I. The bi-weekly pay rate is $1,706.74 (grade 10, step 1). This is an annual base salary of approximately $44,375.24. Framingham State University conducts criminal history and sexual offender record checks on recommended finalists prior to final employment for all positions.
