The Campus Brookwood is located 25 miles north of Boston on the coast in Manchester, MA on a beautiful 30-acre wooded campus. The 130,000 square foot facility sits under one roof with construction ranging from the original 1900 stable (now housing grades 5-8) to the 2014 state-of-the-art lower school, a dining commons, and kitchen. In addition to grade level classrooms, there are five outdoor classrooms, two music rooms, three art studios and a kiln room, four science labs and science gym, a newly renovated library with a 15,000 volume collection, an Idea Lab, a gymnasium and a multi-purpose theater/gymnasium space, a dance studio, two synthetic turf fields, and well-appointed outdoor play spaces. The surrounding area of Cape Ann is filled with beautiful natural and historical attractions such as beaches, parks, preserves, museums, and hiking trails that are used frequently by our students, employees, and families alike.

Job Summary:

Seasonal Camp Janitorial Staff is responsible for performing daily janitorial and custodial duties to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the school building while camp is in session. The cleanliness standards of the school are high and require that all the team members work together to achieve them. There are other duties as well that help with the successful operation of camp. This is a seasonal summer camp position that runs from June 15 - July 31 with some additional hours prior to June 15 dedicated to training and orientation. Starting on June 15th, the hours are from 10:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. weekdays. Essential Duties Vacuum, sweep, and mop flooring and stairs Shampoo carpets as needed Strip and wax floors Clean and sanitize bathrooms Clean and sanitize kitchen and cafeteria Clean mirrors, sinks, countertops, microwaves, and refrigerators in break room Restock supplies in bathrooms, break rooms, and common areas Empty trash cans and replace liners, cleaning receptacles as necessary Dust and clean desks, furniture, and window sills Wash windows and walls as needed Wash dishes left in sink and fill/empty dishwasher as needed Maintain janitorial closets in a clean, organized and safe manner and keep equipment in a safe and operable condition Clean up occasional urine, vomit, and other student bodily fluids Clean spills/toilet overflows and other hazards with proper supplies Set up tables/chairs etc. for special occasions, meetings, and events Clean up after events Help with parking at special events Ensure all lights in the building are off at the end of shift Other maintenance duties as assigned Other duties as required and assigned Qualifications/Abilities Strong knowledge of cleaning products, supplies, and methods Ability to stand/be on feet for entirety of shift Ability to lift 35+ pounds on occasion Good communication and interpersonal skills Good customer service skills Ability to follow oral and written instructions Ability to prioritize multiple tasks Ability to work independently and as part of a team We strongly encourage applications from people of color, LGBTQ candidates or candidates from communities that are historically underrepresented in independent schools.
