Seasonal Custodian The Barton Center for Diabetes Education Oxford, MA / Charlton, MA About The Barton Center for Diabetes Education The Barton Center for Diabetes Education is a nationally recognized organization working at the intersection of healthcare, education, and youth development. For more than 90 years, Barton has supported children, families, and young adults living with Type 1 diabetes through residential camps, educational programs, and leadership development opportunities. Our programs combine medical safety, skill-building, and joyful community experiences to help young people build confidence, independence, and lifelong friendships. Position Overview The Barton Center for Diabetes Education is seeking a reliable and hardworking Seasonal Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for campers, staff, and visitors. This position supports operations at both The Barton Center in Oxford and Camp Joslin in Charlton and plays an important role in ensuring our facilities remain clean, sanitary, and well-stocked throughout the summer camp season. Position Dates Immediate - August 14, 2026 The selected candidate(s) will assist with preparing cabins and facilities for staff arrival and camp operations prior to the start of summer programming and keep consistently clean spaces throughout the summer camp season. Schedule Monday through Friday (flexibility for weekend work, if available/desired) 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Seasonal, Temporary Position Compensation $17.00 per hour Responsibilities Clean and sanitize dining hall areas, including floors, tables, and common spaces. Clean and restock public restrooms and cabin bathrooms at both The Barton Center and Camp Joslin. Collect and dispose of trash and recycling throughout both properties. Restock cleaning supplies, paper products, and hygiene supplies in cabins, program areas, and public facilities. Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and perform general custodial duties. Monitor facility cleanliness and report maintenance or supply needs to supervisors. Maintain a clean and safe environment for campers, staff, and guests. Follow all safety procedures and cleaning protocols. Assist with additional housekeeping and custodial tasks as assigned. Qualifications Previous custodial, housekeeping, or janitorial experience preferred but not required. Ability to work independently and efficiently. Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions. Reliable transportation and the ability to travel between The Barton Center in Oxford and Camp Joslin in Charlton as needed. Dependable attendance and punctuality. What We Offer $17.00 per hour. Consistent Monday-Friday schedule with weekends off (weekend hours available if desired). Supportive team environment.
