Job Summary Join our dedicated Environmental Services team as an Environmental Services Housekeeper, where your attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness will create a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and sanitation across healthcare or institutional settings. Your efforts directly contribute to infection prevention, patient safety, and overall facility excellence. Responsibilities Perform thorough cleaning and disinfecting of patient rooms, common areas, restrooms, hallways, and specialized healthcare spaces using appropriate cleaning agents and techniques. Handle chemical agents safely by following OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) guidelines and proper handling procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Utilize manual handling techniques for lifting, moving, and transporting cleaning supplies, equipment, and waste materials while adhering to safe lifting practices to prevent injury. Conduct floor care activities including sweeping, and mopping maintain a pristine appearance. Follow strict sanitation protocols aligned with healthcare infection prevention and control standards to reduce the risk of cross-contamination. Maintain cleanliness logs and documentation of cleaning activities for compliance audits and quality assurance purposes. Collaborate with healthcare staff to ensure all environmental services meet the highest standards of hygiene and safety. Requirements Prior janitorial or custodial experience in healthcare or commercial cleaning environments preferred; hospital experience is highly advantageous. Knowledge of OSHA regulations related to chemical handling, safety procedures, and environmental services best practices. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while following proper manual handling techniques; physical stamina for prolonged periods of standing, bending, and walking. Strong understanding of sanitation standards specific to healthcare settings to support infection prevention efforts. Excellent attention to detail with a proactive approach to maintaining cleanliness standards. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment while adhering to safety protocols. Must be willing to cross train to work in other departments such as Laundry.
