Bentley Community Schools is a thriving PreK-12 school district located in the City of Burton, Michigan. We serve approximately 700 students across four schools fostering a positive and supportive learning environment for all.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Bentley Community School District is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our faculty as a custodian. The school custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall upkeep of the school building and grounds. This role involves performing a variety of task, including cleaning, minor repairs, and general maintenance.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Keep building and premises neat and clean at all times Check daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy Sweep classrooms regularly and dust furniture Clean corridors after school daily, and during the day Maintain floors in a clean and attractive condition Scrub, hoses down, and disinfects toilet floors daily, and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily Wash all windows inside and outside at least twice each year, and more frequently if necessary Keep the grounds free from rubbish Make minor building repairs Reports immediately to the Principal, any damage to school property Remain on school premises during school hours, and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and custodial attendance is required Responsible for closing the building, securing all doors and windows, and turning off lights where appropriate Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste Perform other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent Physical fitness to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Basic knowledge of cleaning products and equipment Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
