Job Description

Position Summary:
The EVS Custodian plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, clean, and infection-free environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This position is responsible for performing daily cleaning and sanitizing duties in patient rooms, operating areas, public spaces, and clinical departments, directly supporting infection prevention and patient care outcomes.
Shift Available :
Monday - Friday 5:00 PM - 9:00
PM Key Responsibilities:
Clean, disinfect, and sanitize patient rooms, exam rooms, operating areas, restrooms, offices, and public spaces according to hospital infection control standards. Follow strict protocols for cleaning high-touch surfaces, isolation rooms, and critical care areas to reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). Safely collect, transport, and dispose of regular, biohazard, and infectious waste according to hospital policies and regulatory guidelines. Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust all designated areas; maintain floors with appropriate floor care procedures. Clean and disinfect medical equipment surfaces, stretchers, and furniture as instructed. Restock supplies such as hand soap, paper towels, sanitizer, and restroom items. Respond promptly to cleaning requests for spills, hazards, or emergency cleaning needs. Use hospital-approved cleaning agents, PPE, and equipment properly and safely. Maintain confidentiality and respect for patients and staff in all interactions. Report maintenance or safety issues to the supervisor promptly.
Qualifications:
Prior housekeeping, custodial, or healthcare EVS experience preferred. Knowledge of infection prevention practices and safe handling of chemicals. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions in English. Strong attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to patient safety. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, push/pull cleaning carts, and stand/walk for extended shifts. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Work Environment:
Hospital/clinical setting with potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases. Requires strict adherence to safety, infection prevention, and confidentiality protocols. Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays to support 24/7 operations. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
