About the
Role:
The Day Porter plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment within a manufacturing facility. This position ensures that all common areas, restrooms, and workspaces are kept orderly and sanitized throughout the day, supporting operational efficiency and employee well-being. The Day Porter actively monitors facility conditions, promptly addressing any cleanliness or maintenance issues to prevent disruptions. By performing routine cleaning and minor maintenance tasks, the Day Porter contributes to compliance with health and safety standards. Ultimately, this role supports a productive manufacturing environment by fostering cleanliness and organization that align with company standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in janitorial, custodial, or facility maintenance roles preferred. Ability to follow safety protocols and operate cleaning equipment safely. Physical capability to perform manual labor including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies. Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and facility safety procedures. Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors. Certification in workplace safety or custodial training programs.
Responsibilities:
Perform routine cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and trash removal in designated areas throughout the manufacturing facility. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of restrooms, break rooms, and common areas to ensure a hygienic environment for all employees. Monitor facility conditions and report any maintenance or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel promptly. Restock supplies such as paper towels, soap, and other consumables in restrooms and break areas as needed. Assist with minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, replacing filters, and ensuring equipment cleanliness to support facility operations.
Skills:
The Day Porter utilizes strong attention to detail and time management skills to ensure all cleaning tasks are completed efficiently and thoroughly throughout the day. Physical stamina and manual dexterity are essential for handling cleaning equipment and performing repetitive tasks safely. Communication skills enable the Day Porter to report facility issues clearly and coordinate with maintenance or supervisory staff. Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety protocols ensures the proper use of materials while maintaining a safe environment. Additionally, problem-solving skills help the Day Porter address unexpected cleanliness or maintenance challenges promptly to minimize operational disruptions. Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm
