Job Description

SUMMARY The Cleaning Team Member - Part Time Temporary plays a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming, and student-ready campus environment that supports learning, belonging, and student success. Guided by a Human First philosophy and the College's Maroon & Gold Standards (MGS), this position helps ensure that instructional, student-service, and common spaces are clean, secure, and well-maintained—contributing directly to students' ability to focus, persist, and succeed. Through consistent custodial care, event support, and collaboration with Facilities team members, the Cleaning Team Member helps shape the daily student experience, reinforces institutional pride, and supports operational excellence. This role models professionalism, teamwork, and stewardship while actively demonstrating the College's mission, values, and commitment to a respectful, inclusive campus community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
included the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedure.
  • Clean areas around entrances to buildings including snow removal and salting.
  • Clean, dust, and wipe furniture, whiteboard, lighting, and accessories; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers and refill restroom dispensers.
  • Assist with the Event setup/teardown of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
  • Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors (where applicable); vacuum and shampoo carpets.
Properly use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools; auto scrubbers/extractors, high pressure washers, high speed buffers, vacuums, brooms, mops, squeegees, and other related equipment common to the cleaning trade for use on floors, walls, windows, and furniture,
  • Safely use ladders when required in work assignments.
  • Lock and unlock assigned interior rooms in buildings:
  • Check for unlocked doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, turn off lights.
  • Operate snow removal equipment including snowbrush, truck/plow, and shoveling as needed.
  • Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools on an incidental basis.
  • Wash accessible interior and exterior windows. Use caution around applied vinyl window graphics. Clean blinds.
  • Assist with campus recycling initiatives
  • Maintain cleaning operations, improve quality, and build upon the institutions total commitment to student success. Monitors progress to set goals.
  • Respond to work with a timely, professional, respectful, and proactive approach.
  • Assist staff and teams within the Facilities Department with work requests, projects, and daily operations as needed.
Work with customers to resolve problems and answer facility related questions, which may include communicating work-arounds, determining scope, and estimating time of work.

Knowledge of:
Current cleaning methods, materials, and equipment used to maintain safe, healthy, and welcoming facilities for students, employees, and visitors. Custodial practices, machinery, and related equipment that support consistent service quality and operational excellence. Occupational hazards, safety precautions, and regulatory requirements necessary to protect the well-being of the campus community. Proper operation, routine maintenance, and basic care of cleaning equipment to ensure reliable and efficient service delivery.
Skills and Abilities to:
Read, understand, and follow safety procedures and material safety data sheets to maintain a safe environment for students, employees, and visitors. Understand and carry out oral and written instructions in support of daily operations, campus events, and student-facing activities. Communicate effectively and respectfully, both orally and in writing, in ways that reflect professionalism, teamwork, and MGS expectations. Work collaboratively as a team member to support a positive campus climate and shared responsibility for student success. Safely and responsibly use cleaning equipment and supplies while demonstrating care, stewardship, and attention to detail. Perform a variety of custodial and cleaning tasks in a manner that supports clean, orderly, and student-ready facilities. The knowledge, skills and abilities required are often obtained by working one or more years in a related position.
REQUIRED EDUCATON, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, REGISTRATION OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Valid driver's license High school diploma or
