Custodian 2nd
Shift Position Purpose:
Responsible for keep assigned buildings clean, safe: functional, and secure in accordance with prescribed codes and established District Policies and Standards.
Schedule:
8 hours/day – 5 days/week – 52 weeks/year
Essential Job Functions:
A complete job description may be obtained from the Facilities Office upon request. Working off ladders, occasionally. Working off scaffolding, rarely. Lifting to waist, 25-30 pounds, frequently. Lifting to waist, 25-40 pounds, occasionally. Lifting waist to shoulders, 17 to 25 pounds frequently. Lifting overhead, 10 pounds, occasionally. Lifting waist to shoulders, 17 to 40 pounds, rarely. Vacuuming and extracting carpets. Reading, squatting, bending, frequently. Dusting furniture, building, and equipment. Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and waxing hard floor surfaces. Pushing and pulling, 12.5 to 25 pounds, frequently, and 25-30 pounds, occasionally. Generally keeping clean all areas of the building area assigned as per work schedule. Required to operate safety sensitive equipment (lifts & scrubbers). Regular, reliable and punctual attendance. All other duties as assigned by Supervisor of Custodial Operations and/or principal/designee.
Qualifications:
Must be a high school graduate and physically capable of carrying out the essential functions of the job. Must have competency in spelling, writing, and basic English language skills. Must possess skills in maintaining school buildings in a manner acceptable to the general health and safety standards. Must have a very good work history with a good to excellent attendance record in previous assignments and have successful job performance as evidenced through past/recent supervisor's evaluations. Ability to work in an economically, culturally and racially diverse environment.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust/focus.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate.
Mental Functions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile and negotiate.
