The City of Kentwood is seeking a Facilities Custodial Technician to support our Public Works Department. In this role, you'll help maintain clean, safe, and welcoming City facilities for employees and visitors through routine cleaning, maintenance, and event support. This position plays an important role in the day-to-day operations of City buildings, ensuring spaces are well-maintained, functional, and ready for public use. Our ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and takes pride in creating clean and organized environments. What You'll Do Clean and sanitize offices, common areas, restrooms, meeting rooms, and other City facilities Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and machinery Empty trash and recycling and ensure proper disposal Restock restroom, breakroom, and facility supplies Assist with facility setup and teardown for meetings, programs, and events Perform minor maintenance and repair tasks as needed Monitor building safety and security, including checking doors and reporting concerns Identify and report maintenance issues or safety hazards Assist with emergency situations such as snow removal or facility issues Use basic computer systems for reporting and communication Interact professionally and courteously with staff and the public About You You're a reliable, detail-oriented professional who takes pride in maintaining clean and safe spaces. You're comfortable working independently, managing your time, and responding to facility needs as they arise.
Minimum Requirements:
Some high school education and two years of custodial, facilities, or related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience) Valid Michigan Driver's License Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment Ability to perform basic maintenance and repair tasks Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Basic computer and communication skills Ability to perform physical work, including lifting up to 50 pounds Please view the full job description and requirements for more details.
