This position is a 260 total paid days position offering full family medical, dental, and vision benefits. Dental, vision, and life insurance are paid by the district at no cost to the employee. This position is on the hourly, nonunion grade D scale. $14.2624-$17.5321 per hour.GENERAL JOB FUNCTION
The Building Custodian for the MAISD facilities ensures a clean and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. Under the direction of the Custodial Operations Manager, these positions will perform standard cleaning duties, unique cleaning duties related to the needs of the various MAISD programs, operate industrial floor machinery, and manage the physical setup for district meetings and events.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Properly and appropriately disinfect high-touch surfaces, restrooms, and classrooms daily. For building placement, sweep, mop, and vacuum assigned zones. Respond appropriately to Biohazard clean up as needed. Perform set up and break down of conference areas, classrooms, and community spaces as requested. This includes moving tables, chairs, and podiums according to layouts and restoring rooms to their original state. Proficiency in operating and maintaining floor machines (auto-scrubbers, buffers, and carpet extractors) to preserve and clean all floor surfaces. Collect and remove trash and recycling; maintain exterior waste areas. Monitor facility safety and ensure all points of entry are secured at the conclusion of the shift. Keep walkways clear of debris, snow, and ice to ensure safe building access. Must be able to use the district computer systems and must be able to effectively communicate with custodial team members, all staff, and guests. Other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1.Education:
High school diploma or GED. 2. Must pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting as required by the Michigan Revised School Code. 3. Ability to follow instructions from the Custodial Operations Supervisor and interact politely and professionally with all students, staff and guests.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to exercise good judgment in identifying potential health hazards or safety issues involving special needs equipment, and reporting them to administration. Ability to communicate effectively with teachers, staff, and students with various communication methods. Knowledge of cleaning machinery and equipment with the ability to fix and solve basic problems. Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds (essential for moving conference furniture and handling supplies). This position is on the hourly, nonunion grade D MAISD salary scale.
