Custodian - Substitute

Summary We are seeking a reliable and dedicated Custodian - Substitute to join our team at Lake Shore Public Schools Districtwide. This position is essential in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will be flexible, able to adapt to various school settings, and committed to upholding the high standards of cleanliness and sanitation within our facilities. Responsibilities Perform routine cleaning and maintenance tasks in classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas. Ensure all floors are clean, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming as needed. Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in accordance with health and safety regulations. Assist in setting up and taking down furniture and equipment for events and activities. Report any maintenance or safety issues to the appropriate personnel promptly. Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Maintain custodial supplies and equipment, notifying supervisors when supplies need replenishing. Support the full-time custodial staff as needed and fill in during their absence. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous custodial or cleaning experience is a plus but not required. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality work. Good physical stamina and the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Flexibility to work on short notice and adapt to varying schedules. Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude. Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies is a plus.
