I CLASSIFICATION MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Completion of ninth grade.

JOB DESCRIPTION

This position will ensure that Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience laboratories, and its various buildings are clean or orderly by:

• Servicing, clean, and suppling restrooms
• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
• Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications
• Clean windows, glass partitions, or mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, or squeegees
• Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems
• Dust furniture, walls, machines, or equipment (as directed)
• Clean and polish furniture and fixtures (as directed)
• Clean spills and other hazards with appropriate equipment This position will ensure that all waste cans, trashcans, recycle bins and special event trash/recycling is disposed of properly. Nightly waste removal from the various Whitney buildings.
• Empties and cleans all waste cans, trashcans and recycle bins
• Sorts trash and recycling in onsite dumpsters and recycling containers
• Replaces trashcan liners Monitor cleaning supply inventory and communicate with the Maintenance Supervisor if supplies or equipment are needed.
• Alert supervisor when supplies or equipment are needed for cleaning and maintenance duties
• Keep maintenance supply closets in each building stocked with proper supply of cleaning materials, trashcan liners, toilet paper, soap, mops, brooms, gloves and other supplies as needed.
• Alert supervisor when supplies or equipment are needed for car washing/detailing Wash state vehicles.

Also to include periodic deep cleaning tasks as scheduled and needed.

EXPECTED SALARY

Salary commensurate with experience.

Completion of ninth grade.
